Every post becomes one typed tip
A tip is a skill, rule, tool, design, command or habit, and the type decides how it's applied.
Context
“Useful advice” isn’t actionable. An agent needs to know whether to install a skill, add a line to CLAUDE.md or suggest a tool.
Decision
Each tip has exactly one type:
| Type | What it is | How it’s applied |
|---|---|---|
| skill | a procedure the agent follows | .claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.md (and .agents/skills) |
| rule | 1–5 lines of standing instruction | CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md, marked <!-- stash: id --> |
| tool | something to install or connect | the exact command, run only after you approve it |
| design | visual taste, written as a skill | like a skill |
| command | a reusable prompt | .claude/commands/<name>.md |
| habit | advice for you, not the agent | the weekly digest; no file changes |
Tips also carry a one-line takeaway, a 1–10 verdict with a reason, applies (stacks, paths, keywords) and detect strings, so Stash knows when a repo already follows the tip.
Consequences
- Matching, applying and “did it stick” checks are deterministic code, not model calls.
/stash:suggestcan merge related tips into one skill, or into an existing skill, instead of adding duplicates.
