Label masked promotion instead of hiding it
Every tip says whether the post promotes the creator's own product, a sponsor, affiliate links or a sales funnel, without changing its score.
Context
Many “tips” are ads in disguise: a template the creator sells, a sponsored tool, an affiliate link, or a teaser for a paid course. That’s not always bad, but you should know who benefits.
Decision
- Stash spots signals deterministically and shows them to the model next to the fenced post:
#ad, “sponsored by”,ref=/aff=links, discount codes, “link in bio”, “comment X”, “my course/app”. - Triage confirms or dismisses them from the content and writes
promotion: { kind, note }:kindisnone,own-product,sponsored,affiliateorfunnelnoteis one line on what’s sold and what the free part is
- The label is information, not a penalty: an honest tip for a creator’s own good tool can still score 9. Scores drop only when the promotion withholds or distorts the advice.
- The iPhone shows a quiet label on the card and the tip screen. The Mac menu,
/stash:applyand/stash:suggestmention it too.
